It  is human nature to look to the past when seeking inspiration for the future –  particularly in art. Unlike other genres which can typically be attributed to  a specific time period or style, folk art is harder to define or categorise  due to its special place in the hearts of local communities. Although it used  to be created for practical purposes, each piece tells a story of cultural  heritage and craftsmanship that has transcended time to inspire the artists  and designers of today.
